Carland Cross Wind Farm Meeting

Stop them making it massive.

Learn more about this proposal at a meeting on
Tuesday 11 November at 7.30 pm
in St Newlyn East Village Hall.

ScottishPower's proposal will result in:

  • Double height turbines too close for comfort

  • Treble the site area on Newlyn Downs

  • £3 million per year subsidy from taxpayers

  • A development not allowed in Scotland or France

Say No to Spanish-owned ScottishPower’s proposed development of Carland Cross

This development would not happen in Spain, where the Government has withdrawn its subsidies; or in Scotland, where there must be 2km between turbines and dwellings and not a mere 600m as proposed for Carland Cross.

WIND ENERGY IS:

Expensive

Government indirectly subsidises wind energy using our money. This means ScottishPower could get over £306,000 per 2.0MW turbine each year just for putting them there!  That’s more than you get on the lottery with 5 numbers plus the bonus ball!

Inefficient

The current turbines on average are 27-28% efficient although ScottishPower claims the new ones will be 32-33%!  That still makes them at least 67% inefficient for over £3 million of our money every year!

Unreliable

Wind does not blow to order. This means wind energy is unreliable and risks disruption so has to be backed-up by other supplies.

AND DON’T FORGET:

Visually Cornwall is becoming the Wind Farm for England

Noise and ground vibration – studies show serious health implications

Shadow flicker - areas up to 800m from each turbine would be affected

Property values - The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors has found that property values close to a wind farm fall by 20%

Help us nail the lie.
