Welcome to RATS Carland Cross Wind Farm Action Group
Help us to fight yet another battle to keep Cornwall from being invaded
– this time by the new vermin: the ever increasing wind turbines
that cause serious problems for our communities and countryside, and are
inefficient and poor value for our taxpayers’ money.
At a meeting on 11 November 2008 one
hundred local residents and some from further afield packed the
village hall to hear about ScottishPower's recent planning
application - received by Carrick District Council a few days
earlier - and its serious implications for local communities and the
countryside.
ScottishPower is seeking to 'overhaul' the Carland Cross wind farm
by replacing the present 49 metres (161 feet) turbines with
double-height machines of 100 metres (328 feet) and creating a new site
with service roads and other infrastructure on Newlyn Downs and adjacent
farm land immediately to the west towards the A30 and Fiddlers Green,
which will treble the area of land to be leased from the landowner,
Trewithen Estate. This is hardly an ‘overhaul’.
The aim of our wind farm action group website is to inform you about wind turbines to help you decide whether the Carland Cross wind farm should be ‘overhauled’. We live in a democracy and your views and vote will count. If you agree with RATS that ScottishPower should be opposed, to register you support please click here
