Welcome to RATS
(Residents Against
TurbineS)
the
Carland Cross Wind Farm Action Group
When work gets underway to expand the Carland Cross wind farm there will be problems of:
• visual impact
• noise
• traffic congestion, restrictions and hold-ups
Problems that affect your enjoyment and amenity as local people should be reported to Councillors, preferably with evidence including photographs so that they can take action to protect your interests.
Members of the Parish Council can be contacted through the Clerk at: stnewlyneastclerk@live.co.uk
or our Cornwall Councillor at: jclark@cornwall.gov.uk
The wind farm expansion is a major commercial interest for the developers with much of the income it will generate coming from the subsidy agreed by the last government and funded by all electricity consumers, in other words us. There is no reason why the lives and livelihoods of local people should be compromised by the commercial interests of others from elsewhere.
On shore wind turbines
cause serious problems for our communities and countryside, and are
inefficient and poor value for our taxpayers’ money. There are better
forms of low-carbon energy in helping the UK resolve its more
fundamental energy problems so RATS opposes onshore wind turbines
generally and those at Carland Cross specifically.
ScottishPower has applied to 'overhaul' the Carland Cross wind farm
by more than doubling the height of turbines to 100 metres (328 feet)
and trebling the area with a completely new second site including
service roads and other infrastructure over Newlyn Downs and adjacent
farm land.

The aim of our wind
farm action group website is to inform you about wind energy to help
you decide whether the Carland Cross wind farm should be
‘overhauled’. We live in a democracy and your views and vote will count.
